"The Journey" by Mary Oliver

The first time I heard “The Journey” by Mary Oliver I finally understood why people like poetry. The poem pulled my heart stings and called out to me in a way I had never experienced before. At the time, I was still stuck in the “house” she speaks about desperately trying to please others and “mend” their lives. I could feel the words viscerally resonate in my body. I felt the fear and entrapment that I had become accustomed to driving my behavior and actions. The poem, though it terrified me at the time, seemed to provide a roadmap. A roadmap to freedom.

That was my experience, I am much more curious about your experience! Listen to the reading of the poem below and let it move or inspire you as it may. Much love to you and eternal gratitude to Mary Oliver’s wisdom and poetry.
